This is my first time to follow up messages on this board. I am very interested in any "Family Reunions" for the Clinkscales next year. It would be very nice to be able to plan my travel plans for next summer. I am a granddaughter of Louis Milton Clinkscales and Alice Spruiell, being born in Alabama, but now live in Alaska.Just as a notice there are no more siblings of that union living - the last 2 sisters, Kate Justice and Mildred Galbraith died this past year.

I would like to get with you on your Clinkscales geneology. My husbands grandfater was Esker C. on of a set of twin boys born in Calera Alabama. He died in 1973 in Lubbock Tx after having lived in Spur Tx for many years. He has a sister in Sherman Tx. I am looking forward to hearing from you as this is the first clue I have found about his family.

I,too, sent you an e-mail, but, as with Cary's attempt, it must not have gone through either.

If you're talking about Esker and Joy Clinkscales from Spur, TX, then it's the same Clinkscales family. Esker's brother was Edgar and I think they were born up near Vicent, AL. They were my grandmother's brothers. I met all of them except Ethel who died young. I have information about the family if you're interested. I would like to hear what information you have about Esker and Joy and their family. You might try my e-mail address to see if it works from your side.

Shelby Co., AL - Clinkscales
Posted by: Steve Clinkscales Date: July 15, 1999 at 10:35:19

Anyone done any work on William Berry Clinkscales and his descendants who remained in AL ? My ancestors are Erskine R., Reuben F, Louis Milton, and William Berry. I am hoping to visit Vincent and Pellsville in the near future and want to focus on the generation that included Reuben F, Robert Berry, John Wilkes, Grady Lovell, Lige Turner, Lewis Embry, Hester Kate, Lola Eugenia, Clarence Minton, Thomas Newton, William "Noot", and Alice Mildred.

Alice was a Spruell. She and Louis are buried in the Macedonia cemetary in Pell City/Vincent area. Their son Clarence was my grandfather and there are still several from this clan in that area.

I really can't be of that much help besides the fact that Thomas Newton CLinkscales was my grandfather. and at the moment I am looking for information on his family he left in Al. He moved from Al. and became a missionalry in Brazil. But he passed away about 16 years ago when I was 6. Do you know any of his relatives? Can you send me some names? My e-mail is:

He was surely the son of L.M. and Alice Clinkscales of Shelby Co., AL. Alice may have been a Spruell. They had 14 children. The following twelve were listed in both their obituaries: Reuben F., Robert B., John W.; G. Lovell, Lewis E., Clarence M., Thomas N., Wm. Milton, Mrs. H.R. Justice, Mrs. W.C. Bryant, and Mildred. They lived in the Macedonia Community of Shelby Co., near Vincent. My great grandfather, Asa Franklin Clinkscales, was one of L.M.'s brothers. You might read my lead post below on my Clinkscales ancestors. According to my information other brothers were Jesse and John with sisters Essie, Elizabeth, and Nancy.

In 1941 we lived briefly in Vincent,AL. Near neighbors were Raleys; Mrs. Raley's maiden name was Ivy Clinkscales, her brother lived in Leeds, AL and had 3 children. Ivy C.(Raley)had 5 children, Matilene, Nadine, Walter, Sarah, Catherine. Does anyone find an Ivy Clinkscales in the records? They had lived in Shelby Co. all their lives; one girl still lives in Vincent,AL.
